Swapmeet

Started once a year May 10, 1975

Space rent was $.50 but increased the next year to $1.00

First swapmeet grossed $160.00

Hours 10 am to 2 pm

1977 there were two Swapmeets April and October

1978 went monthly

Note: The club called the event a “Ham Demonstartion/Exchange” until October 1978 when the name officially changed to “Swapmeet

Started 1968 in PV class 6A

 

Newsletter

December 1967 started newsletter, first named “Bulletin” began regularly Jan 1968

July 1968 changed name to “Phase Shift”

September 1968 changed to “Crosstalk” new logo

 

Club Callsign

WA6WPO 1968 (discussions began early ‘70’s to find holder of W6TRW)

Changed to W6TRW 1974

 

Other

Feb 1968, the club took out a loan from the credit union for $425.00 to purchase two radios, a 2 and 6 meter Layfette transceiver. The loan payment was $20.00 monthly.

TRW Family Day began 1968. TRW ARC participated that year by setting up a radio station at the event. Five stations were setup on the R5 patio area.

 

March 1971 TRW ARC became an ARRL affiliated club

 

May 1972 Ad-Hoc committee met to discuss club funding deficiencies and alternative goals to increase the minimum treasury balance to a minimum of $200.00. During 1971 to monthly balance has dropped as low as $19.12 and was below $120.00 for eight months.

The club sponsored a picnic but actually posted a loss of $1.16

 

December 1973, the club got a loan for $420.00 to purchase an Icom IC-230 2-meter rig for the shack.

 

1974 there was “Shack #2” located in the west lobby of M1

 

April 1974 mention was made that the 2-meter phenomenon has begun to affect renewed interest in ham radio and that the new net frequency is 147.51

 

September 1974 TRW ARC finally received the new club call W6TRW and retired WA6WPO. Took 18 months to obtain.

 

October 1974, the Crosstalk displayed its new logo along with the new club callsign

Annual Banquet began 1966 called “TRW ARC Annual Hamfeast or Annual dinner.

The banquet was held at various places in the So. Bay, but November 1978 it was a boat…
